COGNITION is a place where children and families come to explore, create, and learn together.
Our 5,000 square foot space is designed to be welcoming, flexible, and engaging. From hands-on exhibits for young children to a demonstration kitchen, outdoor space, flexible classroom, and evolving makerspace, every area is intentionally built to support curiosity and discovery.
We believe learning should feel accessible and inclusive, where every visitor feels supported, capable, and like they belong.

Exhibit Experiences
Our exhibits are designed to do more than teach. They invite children to explore, imagine, and engage with the world around them through hands-on discovery.
Throughout the space, children can build, experiment, create, and explore through a variety of interactive experiences focused on science, creativity, health, and real-world learning.
From imaginative play and problem-solving challenges to opportunities that encourage movement, collaboration, and critical thinking, every experience is intentionally designed to spark curiosity and build confidence.
Our exhibits continue to evolve, allowing us to introduce new ideas, respond to our community, and keep each visit fresh, engaging, and meaningful.
Makerspace
Downstairs is the Grady L. McClamrock Sr. Makerspace.
Our makerspace is not defined by equipment. It’s defined by what happens inside it.
This is where children:
- build, experiment, and explore during field trips
- engage in hands-on learning through programs like Little Cogs, camps, and STEAM Storytime
- create, imagine, and problem-solve in a structured, supportive environment
But what makes this space truly unique is how it transforms.
On any given day, children might:
- step into a garden tea party designed to feel magical and welcoming
- climb aboard a train and feel like they’ve arrived at the North Pole
- explore a world where dinosaurs roam and curiosity leads the way
This isn’t just a room. It’s an environment that changes to spark imagination, deepen engagement, and create memorable experiences for every child.

The makerspace is used for scheduled programs and guided experiences rather than open public use, ensuring each activity is intentional, supported, and engaging.
